Petite Maison of Fashion is mostly a fashion blog with the occasional lifestyle posts that pop up. Who doesn't enjoy a good green tea smoothie or a pesto and avocado crostini? You all know I love to travel and that isn't necessarily fashion. I also like to write and that comes in handy in the college process. I am a now a senior (woohoo!) which means the Common Ap and admissions process is a reality.
I started the first draft of my college essay this summer. Let me tell you, what is nearing to be my final draft is nothing like the first. I had the privilege to have an editor from EditRevise help me out. In the online Writing Center, you can download the free eBook filled with tips to write a college essay. It was particularly helpful to see the examples of real students' writing.
My EditRevise editor gave me feedback by commenting on the structure of my essay, grammar mistakes and word choice. Six hours after uploading my essay, I had the comments emailed to me in PDF format. This is the quickest I have ever gotten back a paper. Because my editor had never met me, she could give me significant input that my teacher from school, who also helped me with my essay, could not. It is interesting to see how a total stranger perceives you from your essay. I had to change certain phrases in my essay because my editor had misinterpreted something I had said, where as someone who knew me better, would have completely understood. Overall, this was quite a helpful and enlightening experience. I still recommend when writing your college essay or resumé, to have someone who knows you well to look it over, and if you want, have an editor from EditRevise read your work.

Yes exactly!
DeleteThat looks like a really useful thing! I remember how hard writing an essay or thesis can be and it's always good to have an outsider's perspective. Hope you'll get a great mark for your essay :)
