A White Memorial Day

Hey beauties,
So tomorrow is memorial day and where I live it's supposed to be 85 degrees (switching out these jeans for shorts anyway). So to celebrate here's a post (I'm always celebrating clearly)
The flowers have finally bloomed around here and the sun has made the trees a gorgeous green. I couldn't be happier laying out in the warm light and soaking up the smell of tulips - like seriously though, its amazing. My sweaters have been buried in the back of my closet and now shorts take the first shelf. The beach has become my best friend once again and my coats have become the worst.

You may notice part of my hair has gone blonde. About a week ago I got it cut and went ombre to get rid of my red. Now I've never really liked ombre because usually when I see it done girls have a line between the colors, I like the color to flow seamlessly. But also I hate dealing with roots - they suck. So I found someone who knew exactly what she was doing and god I think it looks amazing (post to come soon where you can see my hair down). It flows seamlessly and I don't have to deal with roots.
The plan is to keep it this way for a while and then go pink...but we'll see :)

Top: free people
Jeans: Levi's
Boots: Frye

Only bad thing about spring is pollen. For one it gets all over my car meaning I'm constantly doing car washes. Two: allergies. If I forget my Zyrtec well I'll be sneezing all day. And after the sneezing comes swollen eyes and runny nose. But hey to be honest its pretty much all worth it when the sun comes out.

One last thing: these amazing drinks. Seriously try them they taste like heaven and are extremely good for you :)

Intellect feat. Warby Parker

Hey Beauties,
First off THANK YOU FOR 50 followers on Blogger!!!! (whoop whoop)

So the turn of brown to green is coming our way, these dead leaves are already being pushed aside by luscious green grasses and delicately colored flowers. The weather has left the 30's behind and each day brings the sun accompanied by the 60's. Already my skin has turned from vampire to red to bit-darker-vampire color. Dresses have reached the front of the closet and sweaters have taken their place in the back. So spring, I can finally say welcome, and god and I am happy to see you!

This post features my favorite pair of glasses from Warby Parker, like seriously how cool do they look?
The moment I saw them in the package I fell in love; they're comfortable, easy to wear, easy to match, and great quality. Check out our official Warby Parker post here!

I find there is a common thread that glasses make you look more intelligent, I agree, but that does not mean I trust that idea. There is the whole trend of "nerd" glasses like the really big ones that girls wear (though its usually just the fake 3D movie theater glasses) and they say #nerd and I guess it just makes me upset. First off I do wear glasses (I have shit eyesight, like I could easily be considered blind) so this is coming from a perspective of someone who, yes, has been given the name "four-eyes" at points in middle school. Second, posting a picture in large glasses and calling yourself a nerd immediately makes you the opposite of nerd, stupid (not dumb, but inconsiderate). I try to understand the other side of this situation, that it's cute and/or I don't know (please comment your thoughts). But I think the main problem that revolves around this idea is that teenagers (mostly) feel the need to dumb themselves down. The act of posting a photo with a caption "nerd" dumbs you down. Girls think that guys will like them more if they can't argue back in an argument on politics. Guys think girls will like them more if they just have "swag" or are cool, not smart. These are just the beginnings of a few thoughts that I have; but main point is, people don't dumb yourselves down. SMART IS SEXY. You read philosophy and like physics, get with me. You can argue feminism and government issues with me, get with me. Anyway point is, smart=epicness, that's all I have to say for the moment.... <3

United Colors of Benetton Spring 2013

Elettra Wiedemann

The wonderful clothing brand, United Colors of Benetton's new campaign for spring of 2013 features models Charlotte Free, Elettra Wiedemann, Kiera Chaplin, Alek Wek, Lea T., Hanaa Ben Abdesslem, Matias Perdomo, Mario Galla and Dudley O'Shaughnessy. For this colorful campaign, each model was styled by Sissy Vian and took unique poses. United Colors of Benetton is known for provoking campaigns but also wonderful clothes. Though these ads look pretty normal, the models were chosen specifically. The campaign is quite colorful, pastel and cheerfully themed. Transexual model Lea T., amputee models Mario Galla and Dudley O'Shaughnessy are what make the campaign stand out. I find the fact that they can model is wonderful, it's a breath of fresh air from all those photoshopped fake looking "beautiful" ads we see in magazines.

Alexander McQueen Spring 2013

The Alexander McQueen spring show truly is fit for a queen. The textures are beyond dazzling and go beyond the great works Alexander has accomplished before. A bee was a great inspiration from the honeycomb textures to the gold and black even to the beekeepers inspired face covering. You are the fashion bee McQueen.
