I'm Back With My Firmoo's

Hey Everyone,
Guess who's bacccckkkkkkkkk??? The answer would be me, miki, because well Emma hasn't gone anywhere...show her some love.
Technically for a brief overview of what's gone down: I've applied to college and made it through my first semester of school!!! So I'm back to doing my favorite thing: blogging with my other half Emma.

The other day I received in the mail a small package that felt light to the touch but seemed valuable enough to contain miles of bubble wrap. After sitting in my room for days on end due to Juno (the very large snowstorm that hit New England this past week) I was so relieved to have such a distraction. Like who can pass up on bubble wrap?? But the true gem lay beneath the layers of paper encased in a sleek case covered in a world map. Engraved on the upper side of the box were the letters F-I-R-M-O-O an eyewear company I am quite a fan of.

I received these Firmoo glasses and immediately fell in love. They're extremely comfortable and flexible for head size. The colors are vibrant and the glasses are sturdy.
Check out the full collection of well crafted glasses here (http://www.firmoo.com)!

Outfit:
Collar Shirt: Gap
Sweater: H&M
Leggings: Lululemon

Thank you for the wonderful glasses Firmoo! And I'm so excited to be back y'all.
Stay warm,
xoxo

The Big One Six

Dear fellow human beings,
Let me tell you a thing or two about my dear friend Emma:
A thing: she's awesome
or two: today's her birthday (yes I know a shocking development she's reached double digits)

ANYWAY Here is my little tribute post to my absolute greatest friend in the world:

Dear Emma,
You are amazing. I swear it's a fact everyone agrees upon (like the fact that saltwater tastes gross or horses have four legs). No matter how down I am or how little sleep I've gotten you make everything seem like it couldn't be better. You make me laugh harder than I've ever laughed, yes, you've made me even pee in my favorite pants. I don't know how I'd make it through the day without you and I can't thank you enough for being so wonderful to me.
Emma, you've helped me through the hardest days, and these past months of sadness. But they don't seem hard or sad when I'm with you. You are like a little sun traveling through my dark little universe. You dance on down the milky way, leaving a trail of sparkles and happiness (and some cute cats). Yet you also know when I just want a hug, and want to be held. I don't even need to say a word, you just spread your arms and hold me like a mama bird with her baby under her wing. Then when you know its time you lift the wing, shake out some glitter and the hug turns into a dance party!
Did I mention you are more beautiful than a rainbow unicorn? Your blonde mane and stallion-like posture make you a warrior on the battlefield of beauty; a battle you always win. I feel short standing next to you, like a miniature pony, and I always know dem stallions will come galloping to you.
(okay enough with these metaphors, I can barely understand my own words....)
What I'm trying to say Emma; is that you are my stars, my moon, my sun, my universe, my closest friend, my comedian, and my world. Technically Emma I love you so much, and I will never be able to thank you enough for being alive and being the greatest friend one could have.
Love love love,
Miki
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR EMMA, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRFDAYS POO YU, HAPPY LURFDAY EEWW YOU, TAPPY PERFDAY DEER AMME, PRAPY CEPLERFDAY BOO POO

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SECOND HALF
~Miki

Ps: comment your favorite thing about Emma and I'll send you so many over computer air hugs you will believe I have mistaken you for a warm adorable puppy

Pps: I know we don't smile, it's becoming quite a problem

Will I Be Pretty?

More Meg Erickson Bags for my lovely readers :*

One of my favorite slam poems: (watch it here)

WHEN I WAS JUST A LITTLE GIRL, I ASKED MY MOTHER, “WHAT WILL I BE? WILL I BE PRETTY? WILL I BE PRETTY? WILL I BE PRETTY? WHAT COMES NEXT? OH RIGHT, WILL I BE RICH?” WHICH IS ALMOST PRETTY DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU SHOP. AND THE PRETTY QUESTION INFECTS FROM CONCEPTION, PASSING BLOOD AND BREATH INTO CELLS. THE WORD HANGS FROM OUR MOTHERS’ HEARTS IN A SHRILL FLUORESCENT FLOODLIGHT OF WORRY.

“WILL I BE WANTED? WORTHY? PRETTY?” BUT PUBERTY LEFT ME THIS FUNHOUSE MIRROR DRYAD: TEETH SET AT SCIENCE FICTION ANGLES, CROOKED NOSE, FACE DONKEY-LONG AND POX-MARKED WHERE THE HORMONES WENT FINGER-PAINTING. MY POOR MOTHER.

“HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN? YOU’LL HAVE PORCELAIN SKIN AS SOON AS WE CAN SEE A DERMATOLOGIST. YOU SUCKED YOUR THUMB. THAT’S WHY YOUR TEETH LOOK LIKE THAT! YOU WERE HIT IN THE FACE WITH A FRISBEE WHEN YOU WERE 6. OTHERWISE YOUR NOSE WOULD HAVE BEEN JUST FINE!

“DON’T WORRY. WE’LL GET IT FIXED!” SHE WOULD SAY, GRASPING MY FACE, TWISTING IT THIS WAY AND THAT, AS IF IT WERE A CABBAGE SHE MIGHT BUY.

BUT THIS IS NOT ABOUT HER. NOT HER FAULT. SHE, TOO, WAS RAISED TO BELIEVE THE GREATEST ASSET SHE COULD BESTOW UPON HER AWKWARD LITTLE GIRL WAS A MARKETABLE FACADE. BY 16, I WAS PICKLED WITH OINTMENTS, MEDICATIONS, PEROXIDES. TEETH CORRALLED INTO STEEL PRONGS. LAYING IN A HOSPITAL BED, FACE PACKED WITH GAUZE, CUSHIONING THE BRAND NEW NOSE THE SURGEON HAD CARVED.

BELLY GORGED ON 2 PINTS OF MY BLOOD I HAD SWALLOWED UNDER ANESTHESIA, AND EVERY CONVULSIVE TWIST OF MY GUT LIKE MY BODY SCREAMING AT ME FROM THE INSIDE OUT, “WHAT DID YOU LET THEM DO TO YOU!”

ALL THE WHILE THIS NEVER-ENDING CHORUS DRONING ON AND ON, LIKE THE IV NEEDLE DRIPPING LIQUID BEAUTY INTO MY BLOOD. “WILL I BE PRETTY? WILL I BE PRETTY? LIKE MY MOTHER, UNWRAPPING THE GIFT WRAP TO REVEAL THE BOUQUET OF DAUGHTER HER $10,000 BOUGHT HER? PRETTY? PRETTY.”

AND NOW, I HAVE NOT SEEN MY OWN FACE FOR 10 YEARS. I HAVE NOT SEEN MY OWN FACE IN 10 YEARS, BUT THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME.

THIS IS ABOUT THE SELF-MUTILATING CIRCUS WE HAVE PAINTED OURSELVES CLOWNS IN. ABOUT WOMEN WHO WILL PROWL 30 STORES IN 6 MALLS TO FIND THE RIGHT COCKTAIL DRESS, BUT HAVEN’T A CLUE WHERE TO FIND FULFILLMENT OR HOW WEAR JOY, WANDERING THROUGH LIFE SHACKLED TO A SHOPPING BAG, BENEATH THOSE 2 PRETTY SYLLABLES.

ABOUT MEN WALLOWING ON BAR STOOLS, DREARILY PRACTICING ATTRACTION AND EVERYONE WHO WILL DRIFT HOME TONIGHT, CREST-FALLEN BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH STRANGERS FOUND YOU SUITABLY FUCKABLE.

THIS, THIS IS ABOUT MY OWN SOME-DAY DAUGHTER. WHEN YOU APPROACH ME, ALREADY STUNG-STAYED WITH INSECURITY, BEGGING, “MOM, WILL I BE PRETTY? WILL I BE PRETTY?” I WILL WIPE THAT QUESTION FROM YOUR MOUTH LIKE CHEAP LIPSTICK AND ANSWER, “NO! THE WORD PRETTY IS UNWORTHY OF EVERYTHING YOU WILL BE, AND NO CHILD OF MINE WILL BE CONTAINED IN FIVE LETTERS.

“YOU WILL BE PRETTY INTELLIGENT, PRETTY CREATIVE, PRETTY AMAZING. BUT YOU, WILL NEVER BE MERELY ‘PRETTY’.”

Outfitted Mural

So the snow is melting and the sun is shining and everything is good...for the moment.
This outfit is I'd say dressy yet comfy; casual yet appropriate. The combination of the dress vest and the leggings makes this outfit. I must say it's not the girliest outfit but it's one of my favorites.

Dress Vest - H&M
Blue Button-Down - Target
Leggings - Ralph Lauren
Combat Boots - Zigi Soho
